What Is A Digital Nomad?

I often see this question “What Is A Digital Nomad” while running the popular travel Instagram Coount @OutlookGlobal.

According to Wikipedia, “Digital nomads are a type of people who use telecommunications technologies to earn a living and, more generally, conduct their life in a nomadic manner. Such workers often work remotely from foreign countries, coffee shops, public libraries, co-working spaces, or recreational vehicles.”

Essentially, people who manage to run a business of some form through their laptop and smartphones while traveling the world.

Think of a travel blogger, they generate revenue through their blog and other sources while on the move.

That said, travel blogging isn’t the only way to be a digital nomad. There are endless ways in which a person can generate revenue through the skills and tools they possess.

For many people working and traveling seems like an unaffordable dream lifestyle that is unattainable. This is so far from the truth.

In fact, if you live in a major city like New York, London, Miami, Los Angeles, or Dubai, it’s often more cost effective to travel and work, as many places have a cheaper cost of living than these cities.

Digital nomads find a good balance between work and exploration. Understandably, when you arrive in a far away land, your excitement drives you out of the door and onto the beaches and up the mountains, but not before you’ve earned your money.

The freedom that comes with this lifestyle is priceless. The experiences you have, the people you meet, the cultures you are exposed to, and the challenges you have along the way, help to shape the future you.

Whether you want to skip from place to place, or hold up in certain locations for months at a time, you get to choose your path, and often you’ll find that it’s the people you meet that help you choose where to go next, and for how long.

The majority of people save up for a long time to be able to have a 2 week vacation once a year. A digital nomad combines vacations with daily life, allowing them to constantly explore new lands.
