Vancouver is a stunning city, surrounded by water and mountains. It’s in the upper echelons of pretty cities around the world, and that makes it an expensive place to visit.

It’s relatable to visiting a London, Paris, New York when it comes to travel spending. That’s why we put together this handy little guide of 10 free things to do in Vancouver. Thankfully, seeing as it’s got so much natural beauty, there’s way more than 10, but for the ake of letting you get on with boking our trip. Here are some of our favourites.

 

Granville Island – Always Free

Granville Island is a peninsula and shopping district. It is located across False Creek from Downtown Vancouver under the south end of the Granville Street Bridge.

 

English Bay – Always Free

English Bay is located in the west of the downtown peninsula and False Creek. It consists of the south side of the Burrard Inlet, extending from Point Grey in the southwest to Prospect Point in the northeast.

 

Kitsilano Beach – Always Free

Kitsilano Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Vancouver, especially in the warm summer months. Located at the north edge of the Kitsilano neighbourhood, the beach faces out onto English Bay.

Vancouver Art Gallery – Always Free

The Vancouver Art Gallery is a not-for-profit organization supported by its members, individual donors, corporate funders, foundations, and the City of Vancouver. It’s the fifth-largest art gallery in Canada, and the largest in Western Canada. It is located at 750 Hornby Street.

 

Stanley Park – Always Free

Stanley Park is a 405-hectare public park that borders the downtown of Vancouver, and is almost entirely surrounded by waters of Vancouver Harbour and English Bay.

 

Mountain Biking – Always Free

If you’ve got strong legs you mountain bike on the North Shore mountains. We do recommend going with someone who knows the area.

 

Cypress Viewpoint -Always Free

The Cypress Mountain Viewpoint is a 30-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. From Hwy 1 in West Vancouver, take exit 8 for Cypress Bowl Road towards the ski area. This is one of the best locations to get beautiful panoramic views of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

The Sea Wall – Always Free

Vancouver has the world’s longest uninterrupted waterfront path. The Sea Wall is a stone wall that was constructed around the perimeter of Stanley Park to prevent the erosion of the park’s foreshore.

 

Lighthouse Park – Always Free

Lighthouse Park is a neighbourhood park located in a residential area in West Vancouver. It is a popular tourist attraction for visitors to Vancouver as it is a National Historic Site of Canada.

 

Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge – Always Free

The Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian bridge located within Lynn Canyon Park, in the District of North Vancouver. It is 50 metres high from the bottom of the canyon. The bridge was built as a private venture in 1912.
